Before buying jewellery in Kolkata, most people want to know one thing: what is gold going for today? Kolkata Gold Price answers that with recorded rates for the city, a history of past rates and a calculator for the final price. It is free, needs no account, and the whole site is available in English and Bengali.

The rates

The homepage shows the latest recorded rate for each purity, per gram and per 10 grams:

When a record includes it, there is a separate rate for 24K gold bars. Each rate also shows the change from the previous recorded day.

Recorded rates, labelled honestly

The rates are not live market prices. They come from price records uploaded to the site, and each one carries the time it was observed, in IST. If the newest record is not from today, the site calls it the latest rate, not today's rate, so you are never shown an old number as if it were current.

The rates are indicative gold values before making charges and GST. A jeweller's selling price will be higher, and Kolkata Gold Price does not sell gold itself.

Price history

The history page charts recorded daily rates. You can filter by date range, purity and unit.

Each day uses the last rate observed that day. Days with no record are left empty in the chart rather than estimated, so every point on it is a rate that was actually recorded.

The calculator

The price of a piece of jewellery is more than the gold in it. The calculator takes a purity and a weight, then adds making charges and GST to estimate what you would actually pay.
